Interface Software Engineer
Kent is a full-stack web developer with a passion for accessibility, visualizations, mapping, performance tuning, and learning. He has a B.A. in Computer Science from The University of Texas, Austin. His technical experience includes frontend, backend, relational database design, ETL, DevOps, infrastructure, customer support, project management, and mentoring, along with dabblings in machine learning and GIS.
After college, Kent took a detour and established a career in experiential environmental and adventure education.
He has held an Emergency Medical Technician certification and trained in search and rescue. For some time, Kent considered pursuing a career in international disaster response, but decided that using his tech skills might be a better way to help the world.
Having close friends in California who either lost their homes to wildfire with only minutes to evacuate or who were forced to evacuate preemptively—along with being personally impacted by the smoke from several bad fire seasons—makes this project personal for Kent. In his off time, Kent enjoys hanging out in natural places, rock climbing, mountain biking, learning guitar, and coding for fun. He is currently based in Durango, Colorado.
“This project unites my passions with my skills, and the team is amazing. I’m very excited to be part of it.”
